“Multiple people stabbed at Lone Star College” sent by a classmate with his commentary!

“Are we going to ban knives as well? Will there be legislation made and carried out by our congress to take these out of the hands of our citizens? It goes to show that it’s not the weapon responsible for the damage it causes, but the person wielding it. If things were to go in the succession that the anti-gun/weapons agenda, then we’d have only our fists left. What then will they ban in America? Will they begin severing our hands at birth to keep us from harming one another? No I say to the narrow minded individual who sees weapons as the cause of strife in this world rather than the person who holds it.”  a classmate’s commentary

  1. I hate reading and hearing about these types of acts by people. I understand that this person is mentally ill and needs help because only a mentally insane person would stab 14 people. Its devastating for a person to cope with their feelings by attempting to kill others. I hope I never become this insane.

  2. I think this is ridiculous. It is exactly the same as the gun situation. Banning guns, knives, or any other weapons won’t prevent crime. Only establishing laws and punishments will solve the issue.

  3. Wow this is sad. I can’t believe someone would do something like this to innocent people. Things like this happen everyday and it is unfair for people to have to go through these things because of someone else’s actions.

  4. Sometimes problems like this may occur because of bullying, people don’t get the proper help and violence is their solution. Media gets a hold of these causes and make the issues more about the knife and weapons than the people actually involved. I glad this campus is so safe and offers counseling for those in need.

  5. I agree with Gilberto, I think when someone goes out and harms other people it is most likely has to do with their mental state. I do not know what I would do if something like this were to happen at RCC lets hope it doesnt ever happen.

  6. Its definitely a mental issue when someone decides to take such measures as taking a weapon and injuring other individuals, in my opinion any crime involving a weapon is the end result of feeling helpless or not having control. I think I heard that this individual was aiming at peoples ears and mouths, making it a much more personal crime; maybe the result of bullying?

  7. Crazy to think that in any second of your life someone similar to this can happen. I just don’t get how a person can do such harm, especially to innocent people who do not deserve it. I also don’t understand why humans want to feel inferior by killing others, that just is not the right thing to do.

  8. It is scary to think about how something similar could happen like this at your own school campus. But I agree with danielledez5 that since RCC has as many resources as it does, our campus has been able to remain safe. I just cannot comprehend how an individual would cause such harm. I hope our school continues to have as much support as it does, and be there to help out individuals.

  9. I couldn’t imagine would I would do if a situation like that occurred at our school. I don’t understand how someone could just go on a rampage like that.

  10. It amazes me to think “What in the world is going on in their head”. Why would a person do this to innocent people who has done no harm to that person. This makes me feel like I should have to carry around a gun or knife for my own protection. It’s my life or theirs? Perhaps if I invest in a bullet prof vest ill feel a tad more safe. It is ridiculous that people need to think this way to feel safe.

  11. My heart goes out to the 14 students who were stabbed, if that was me, I would be dead instantly, I wouldn’t even the ability to rationalize the event that just happened while I bled to death. That is such a nightmare.

  12. When I hear about violences such as this mass stabbing, I tend to continplate why a person would act out in this fashion. My theory is that these people have either been rejected when seeking help , they are unaware of the resources available to them, or they fail to seek professional aide for the fear of being rejected. I am proud that Riverside has yet to fall victim of such violence. I feel that Riverside has been able to remain safe from attackers within the community because we have a great awareness of mental health issues, and we have many resources available especially on the RCC campus. With Active Minds and the deppression hotline signs, our campus comunity is able to get mental health assistance at anytime.
People need to know that help is available and that it is okay to need help!
