It’s finally Happened: This post is from an English 1A Student

> It’s finally happened. A whistle blower has exposed our government’s program/programs to acquire all our private information, phone records, text messages, and e-mails. This very message is included in that data gathering. Why should you be concerned? Well, this country is a republic, which means that we are governed by a body of laws. However, there is one body of laws that supersede any other law in this land, and that is the Constitution. Any attempt to impede and infringe upon any portion of this document is beyond illegal. The American people have undoubtedly allowed these politicians to slip by, not because they have an unyielding love for them, but because they are either ignorant or don’t care. Below is President Barack H. Obama’s statement on the NSA leaks.

I noticed that Obama repeatedly said that America was a democracy, which we are not, and that “We have to have trade offs” for our safety. There are no trade offs when it comes to Freedom and Liberty. Below is the fourth amendment in our Constitution.

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

It is obvious that our Supreme Court system has indubitably failed us, and it has failed to uphold its portion of the check and balance system in our country. However, there are still a few politicians who have a back bone, and one these politicians, Senator Rand Paul, is going to challenge the NSA in the Supreme Court.

Now, who leaked this information? Well, that was all thanks to Edward Snowden. Thanks to this brave individual, we now have a chance to address some of our government’s overreaching policies and departments.

However, in light of his heroic actions, he is now in fear for his life, not from terrorists, not from foreign invaders, but from our very U.S. government.

We truly are living in strange times, and I hope that we can restore this republic soon, otherwise we will degrade to the point where our very freedoms are at stake. Below is a statement from Ron Paul.

Never give up your liberties and freedoms, there has been too much blood shed for them.

Authors notes: Wow, wee, wow, wee, wow. I cannot believe what I am seeing. We really do live in interesting times.

  1. Its so sad now reports are surfacing where police are confiscating money to use for margarita machines im not making it up it happened. Its very similar to kenya where the police would confiscate money for no reason and use it for personal reasons. Are we moving to a direction where our country is now being compared to third world countries eather than developed nations.

  2. This makes me think of all those times where it feels like some one is watching…

  3. I couldn’t watch the video either. Makes you wonder why??? With technology now everything we do leaves a footprint. We may think we are safe in the our walls of our home but who know, big brother is always watching. It makes you think of the Jim carry move, The Truman Show, where every moment of his life was recorded for the world to see. Scary times.

  4. I really wish the video was still up. It brings forth an issue that many americans overlook, and/or are comfortable liing with. Many things with today’s technology has been traced and can always be used against us. We ARE being watched 24/7.
