GET RID OF SPAMMERS!

This is all good advice and it is for your own protection. I particularly like the suggestions on how to handle TELEMARKETERS and JUNK MAILERS….

If all of us would start practicing these tips it will STOP a lot of Spammers, Telemarketers and junk mail!

This is great, check it all out!

E-Mail Tracker Programs — very interesting and a must read!
The man that sent this information is a computer tech. He spends a lot of time clearing the junk off computers for people and listens to complaints about speed. All forwards are not bad, just some. Be sure you read the very last paragraph.

By now, I suspect everyone is familiar with snopes.Com and/or truthorfiction.Com for determining whether information received via email is just that: true/false or fact/fiction. Both are excellent sites.

Advice from snopes.Com VERY IMPORTANT!!
1) Any time you see an email that says “forward this on to ’10’ (or however many) of your friends”, “sign this petition”, or “you’ll get bad luck” or “you’ll get good luck” or “you’ll see something funny on your screen after you send it” or whatever — it almost always has an email tracker program attached that tracks the cookies and emails of those folks you forward to. The host sender is getting a copy each time it gets forwarded and then is able to get lists of ‘active’ email addresses to use in SPAM emails or sell to other Spammers. Even when you get emails that demand you send the email on if you’re not ashamed of God/Jesus — that is email tracking, and they are playing on our conscience. These people don’t care how they get your email addresses – just as long as they get them. Also, emails that talk about a missing child or a child with an incurable disease “how would you feel if that was your child” — email tracking. Ignore them and don’t participate!

2) Almost all emails that ask you to add your name and forward on to others are similar to that mass letter years ago that asked people to send business cards to the little kid in Florida who wanted to break the Guinness Book of Records for the most cards. All it was, and all any of this type of email is, is a way to get names and ‘cookie’ tracking information for telemarketers and Spammers — to validate active email accounts for their own profitable purposes.

You can do your Friends and Family members a GREAT favor by sending this information to them. You will be providing a service to your friends. And you will be rewarded by not getting thousands of spam emails in the future!

Do yourself a favor and STOP adding your name(S) to those types of listing regardless how inviting they might sound! Or make you feel guilty if you don’t! It’s all about getting email addresses and nothing more.

You may think you are supporting a GREAT cause, but you are NOT!
Instead, you will be getting tons of junk mail later and very possibly a virus attached! Plus, we are helping the Spammers get rich! Let’s not make it easy for them!

ALSO: Email petitions are NOT acceptable to Parliament, the Legislature or any other organization – I.e. Social security, etc. To be acceptable, petitions must have a “signed signature” and full address of the person signing the petition, so this is a waste of time and you are just helping the email trackers.

Tips for Handling Telemarketers
Three Little Words That Work!!
(1)The three little words are: ‘Hold On, Please…’
Saying this, while putting down your phone and walking off (instead of hanging-up immediately) would make each telemarketing call so much more time-consuming that boiler room sales would grind to a halt.

Then when you eventually hear the phone company’s ‘beep-beep-beep’ tone, you know it’s time to go back and hang up your handset, which has efficiently completed its task.

These three little words will help eliminate telephone soliciting..

(2) Do you ever get those annoying phone calls with no one on the other end?

This is a telemarketing technique where a machine makes phone calls and records the time of day when a person answers the phone.
This technique is used to determine the best time of day for a ‘real’ sales person to call back and get someone at home.
What you can do after answering, if you notice there is no one there, is to immediately start hitting your # button on the phone, 6 or 7 times as quickly as possible. This confuses the machine that dialed the call, and it kicks your number out of their system.. Gosh, what a shame not to have your name in their system any longer!!!

(3) Junk Mail Help:
When you get ‘ads’ enclosed with your phone or utility bill, return these ‘ads’ with your payment. Let the sending companies throw their own junk mail away.

When you get those ‘pre-approved’ letters in the mail for everything from credit cards to 2nd mortgages and similar type junk, do not throw away the return envelope.

Most of these come with postage-paid return envelopes, right? It costs them more than the regular 44 cents postage, ‘IF’ and when they receive them back.

It costs them nothing if you throw them away! The postage was around 50 cents before the last increase and it is according to the weight. In that case, why not get rid of some of your other junk mail and put it in these cool little, postage-paid return envelopes.
One of Andy Rooney ‘s (60 minutes) ideas.

Send an ad for your local chimney cleaner to American Express. Send a pizza coupon to Citibank. If you didn’t get anything else that day, then just send them their blank application back!

If you want to remain anonymous, just make sure your name isn’t on anything you send them.

You can even send the envelope back empty if you want to just to keep them guessing! It still costs them 44 cents.

The banks and credit card companies are currently getting a lot of their own junk back in the mail, but folks, we need to OVERWHELM them. Let’s let them know what it’s like to get lots of junk mail, and best of all they’re paying for it…Twice!

Let’s help keep our postal service busy since they are saying that e-mail is cutting into their business profits, and that’s why they need to increase postage costs again. You get the idea!
If enough people follow these tips, it will work I have been doing this for years, and I get very little junk mail anymore.

THIS JUST MIGHT BE ONE MESSAGE THAT YOU WILL WANT TO FORWARD TO YOUR FRIENDS

  4. Oh god, I hate spam so much. Sometimes my phone will be on loud and in the middle of the night it will go off because I’m starting to get spammed. What’s the worst though are the telephone marketers, I’ve devised a new method where I answer and if the caller ID says anyone who has a 1800 number, I pick up and hang up.

  5. I hate junk mail ! but im definatley going to try this.

  6. What a great topic. My computer and laptop is so slow that it takes about 15 minutes for each of them to turn on because there is so much spam and junk mail in my documents and files.

  7. I have learned the art of blocking telemarketers through apps that block people from calling. I also do not reply to idiotic posts that say things like “reblog or a kitty dies of depression” or something like that. There are too many viruses and spammers out their so it is important to be cautious. I already had one of my primarily used email accounts hacked. It is not fun.

  8. I can’t stand junk mail, I just send it straight to the trash bin because its not worth my time.

  9. Why havenโ€™t I heard of doing this before with the junk mail?! This is so brilliant. I hate that stupid junk mail I get in the mail. I rarely get phones calls from machines and what not which am so happy for that. I hate knowing that people can access your information like that.

  10. I am surprised that some people still fall for the “forward this to 10 people or else you will blah blah blah” trick. It is kind of common sense but I guess it is not that common.

  12. I have over a thousand emails in my inbox due to spammers and I most of it is from social networking sites such as twitter or facebook such as it says. I believe that the method to solicitors also works very well to get them to stop calling, or simply just hanging up is what I will do most of the time.

  13. this is great! Now I cant wait for my junk mail to arrive tomorrow, ha. I recently applied for a credit card now all of the sudden I am pre approved for every type of credit card available, and as far as the “#” button, genius!!!

  14. It is pretty crazy the ways some of these spamming networks acquires your information just to hassle you into looking at something you would not even have a second thought about. 15. Spammers are the most annoying advertisement their is. Its gotten so bad I am starting to receive not in my email inbox but through text messages.

  16. If there is one thing that annoys me, it is definitely spammers. This was very informative and gave suggestions. I hardly ever answer 866/800 or private numbers because I automatically know it is most likely going to be a telemarketer.

  17. I used to get spam mail pretty frequently by email until I linked all of my spammers addresses together and had anything they sent forwarded back to them and any other spammer who sent me their spam. Over a few months as they were constantly receiving the spam they sent or some other spammers mail they eventually stopped. They still continue to receive spam until they ask me sincerely through a personal email to stop as I would take them off the forward list if they do.

  18. first of all for telemarketer, when this phone number is stranger I wouldn’t answer, because I couldn’t hear, unless I know that number people who call me . for junk email I have been struggle of that. it made of people attraction junk email.

  19. I fail to understand the need of these spam emails. What is the point of getting people’s email addresses? It is annoying and an unnecessary headache, especially when your computers develop a virus and stop working. We must do something to stop this mad cyber world. If we all stop replying and forwarding those ridiculous chain emails, we would be doing ourselves a huge favor.

  20. Iโ€™m glad that he is addressing this issue and giving people suggestions and tips. Telemarketers are definitely becoming more creative with their strategies and are becoming the new crooks.

  22. Seriously, what is the point of all this spamming? I cannot stand it. It is so annoying and such a big waste of time.

  23. That’s funny, these suggestions seem valid and worth my time. I very rarely get spam and never get telemarketers, but when I do I will keep these tips in mind.

  24. I cant stand spam no matter the source! it is so annoying!!

  25. Spam callers are incredibly annoying. They always seem to randomly get a hold of your number and once they do, the calls are non-stop. No matter what you do or say they keep calling.

  26. I hate spam calls. They make me so mad because they call at the worst times. Then when you say you don’t want to talk, they always keep calling..

  27. I hate getting spam calls. I can’t stand junk mail, I always get it and it always gets in the way of the rest of my emails! My life would be so easier without it. But this is probably the best list of directions I have ever received.

  28. This readding was very informative and i cannot wait to send an empty envolope to the spamming company that spams my mailbox. It is rediculouss how much spam mail there is out there. Spam mail just makes me mad because i know its spam right away but i never knew how to get rid of it.

  34. It would be nice, but think how easy many of these on-line companies gather personal information about each person that registers. Believe or not, many sell your information to these these telemarketers that bombarded with spam and phone calls. I think there was an Act that congress passed for the consumer to have such annoyances stopped.

  35. All I can say is thank goodness for caller ID and spam killer protective software.

  36. These are great ideas that can be used to prevent spammers to stop sending their bogus advertisement. I think I am going to start sending back those return envelopes with other advertisement! ๐Ÿ™‚

  38. Spam is just a waste of time! I do not understand the purpose of it because no one pays attention to it, it is just plain trash.

  39. This is very clever, because I do get alot of junk mail and I do not want it anymore. I would have never thought of the “hold on please” to the telemarketer, I always just hang up right away or let them talk all they want and then I say, “ok sorry but no”, and then they just get so mad and stop sounding nice and just say bye all rudely. Why is spamming and all this irritating stuff even around, why would you even want it as a job?

And the excessive about of spam mail being sent is rediculous. If only people invested as much of their time into more productive things,.. I wonder.

  43. I never quite understood why there were spammers. It seems that some people / companies have nothing better to do than to bother people. At least twice a week I receive and calls that are unnecessary do to this. I wish this would stop and I’m going to try to find some solution to give myself some relief. Spammers need to get a life.

  44. Spammers are the worst! All they do is waste their time trying to ruin other peoples computers! Just imagine how productive these people would be if they didn’t spam people!

  45. I CANNOT STAND JUNK MAIL! Best list of directions I will ever read! ๐Ÿ˜‰

  46. Life would be such a better place if no one ever got another stupid spam email, phone call, or text message. The fact that people go along with some of these messages is beyond me. I would definitely put forth some type of effort in following these tips and so should everyone else.
