Radio Host to Lead Armed March on DC July 4th ‘To Put Gov’t on Notice that We Won’t be Intimidated’
May 5, 2013

Libertarian activist and radio host, Adam Kokesh plans to lead an armed march on Washington, D.C. this Independence Day.

Launched as a group on Facebook, the “Open Carry March on Washington” hopes to get 1,000 supporters to march into the nation’s capital with loaded rifles.

The group plans to meet at Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia.  From there, they will march across the Memorial Bridge into Washington, D.C. and continue down Independence Avenue.

While Virginia permits open carry, Washington, D.C. does not issue any permit/licenses to carry a firearm.

The Facebook page states:

“This is an act of civil disobedience, not a permitted event. We will march with rifles loaded & slung across our backs to put the government on notice that we will not be intimidated & cower in submission to tyranny.”

The event is said to be non-violent and states that if the group is met with physical resistance, they will turn back.

“There’s a remote chance that there will be violence as there has been from government before, and I think it should be clear that if anyone involved in this event is approached respectfully by agents of the state, they will submit to arrest without resisting,” the event’s page reads.

The event is open to unarmed supporters, journalists and welcomes law enforcement officers to join.

Adam Kokesh plans to lead a march on Washington D.C. with men fully armed with rifles, pistols, and shotguns on July 4th, 2013. They claim that the government is corrupt and has been exercising their citizen given right as tyrannical rulers. Most likely, the group will be mowed down by the military in a swift motion by our kind government’s orders. All the onlookers will accept this heinous act by the government, and then move on with their lives while ignoring their civil liberties being taken away. We will regress into medieval times, and reestablish the serf class with everyone but the politicians a part of it. Because only brute force rules, and the people, who have no brute force, will submit to their rule. is not funded by the government like NPR. is not funded by the government like PBS. relies on individuals like you to help us report the news the liberal media distort and ignore. Please make a tax-deductible gift to today. Your continued support will ensure that is here reporting THE TRUTH, for a long time to come. It’s fast, easy and secure.

  1. There’s too much violence out there, and obviously people are afraid of guns, because some of the most tragic acts of violence are done with guns. There the cause of some of the biggest massacres in America, because people don’t know how to use them responsibly. Thats why people fear guns..

    • This I believe is not a true act of civil disobedience. In todays age guns represent violence and that is the opposite of civil disobedience. Why is it necessary for them to march with loaded weapons? and of course the government is going to see this as a possible threat of violence. I would to . It is common sense. For those who support the march with only dispise the government more and people who do not know anything will look atthe government in a bad light.

  2. I think the march around the capital with arms is a radical extreme move. However this should be settled legally in court. The Bill of Rights should supersede this argument. Marching around the capital with loaded arms will only bring violence. Now a march around the capital with signs would be more favorable to the people.

  3. I dont think that this march is going to end without violence. Things are going to get heated. I lot of people dont agree with the governement and this is just a little push to stand against the government.

  4. I love how people are afraid of guns, the ones who don’t understand, or don’t acknowledge the reason for them, or the benefits.

This government will obtain power regardless of our actions, the only thing we can do is drastically slow it down, by showing the government that we have rights, and we will fight for them. America is turning way to peaceful, and it’s government is turning way to tyrannical.

I don’t understand how people can say “Taking these actions will force the government to take tyrannical measures.” No it won’t! The government is trying to get as much power as it can grab regardless of us. If we say “You know the second Amendment says I can use arms to stop you from being tyrannical monster.” The government would go “Good point, we’ll stop trying to steal your freedoms because your clearly going to fight for them.”

Not fighting for your freedoms you were given is what is causing this country it’s problems, safety freaks and liberals will destroy this country.

  5. With all these controversies about guns and what not, I’m still waiting on what the government will do to finally settle the debate.

  6. This needs to happen. People have given over TOO MUCH authority and power to the government. The police are already acting tyrannical, and they even ignore the laws that they vowed to uphold. Enough is enough. Let these great men march on, show this nation that the people are not scared of the government any more. Adam feels secure in his march because he believes in the Constitution, which is THE SUPREME LAW OF THE LAND IN AMERICA. These gun laws are in clear violation of the 2nd amendment.

  7. More gun freaks!? I cannot stand them. They are just asking for the government to exercise tyrannical power. I really doubt that a “non-violent” march like this will end without violence, and if they go through with this, they will be putting the public in harms way. What a nut job gun freak! If anything, this march would only force the government to implement strict gun control laws, which I am guessing that is exactly what they don’t want…

  8. Adam Kokesh seems to be leading a march similar to Dr. Martin Luther King’s. Like King, Kohesh plans to hold a peaceful march in Washington D.C. They both advocate Civil Disobedience when individual’s rights are being taken away. I hope that he is able to make an impact on Americans’ minds just like Dr. King did. It’s because of theses kind of men that necessary changes are made. Good for him, I wish him the best!

  9. This does not seem like a very good idea. Leading a peaceful march for a cause with supporters is all good, but having loaded guns on your back seems stupid. That is like asking to be shot because law enforcement is crazy like that and will find some way to justify your death. I am all for making a statement and letting your cause be known, but where should the line be drawn? The government will not see it as a peaceful gathering, it will look like someone trying to start a war and thats exactly what this march will be met with if they proceed in this manner. Peaceful or not, guns are not taken lightly in D.C..

  10. These people are crazy and taking the wrong approach toward trying to get their point across. I think its Terrible how divided our country is and the measures people will go to just to create some unnecessary violence
